This course prepares students to perform a wide range of billing and coding tasks. In this course, students will understand anatomy, physiology, and medical terms and understand the law and billing and coding. Students will learn to understand medical billing systems, and post, submit, and appeal claims. Students will also be able to perform medical data entry, effectively use medical software, manage electronic health records, and track payments and reimbursements. Students will also learn how to apply coding to medical diagnoses and treatments and communicate appropriately with the providers and insurance companies. After the program, students are eligible to sit for the American Allied Health national certification exam.
