Makeba White Chanay – Founder, Chairperson of the Board, CEO of B1 Healthcare Solutions, Inc., and President of B1 Nursing Care, Jackson, MS

Makeba White-Chanay is a dedicated professional recognized for her outstanding leadership, entrepreneurial excellence, and community service. A God-fearing woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and visionary business leader, she stands firmly on HER Philosophy—a commitment to fostering and uplifting individuals in need.

As the Founder and Chairperson of The College of Health Services and Careers, Makeba established the institution in 2018 to equip students with the tools for successful healthcare careers. Under her leadership as its first president, the school expanded into a full college offering multiple certificate programs, with new certifications in seasonal healthcare professions launching in 2024.

Beyond education, Mrs. Chanay serves as Chairperson of B1 Healthcare Solutions and as President/CEO of B1 Nursing Care/Homecare To Go, Exclusive Testing, Majasty Living, B1 Properties and Investments, and several other ventures—all of which have achieved multimillion-dollar success under her guidance. Her strategic vision includes expanding B1 Healthcare Solutions into neighboring states, including Arkansas, Alabama, Texas, and Louisiana.

Her achievements have earned national recognition, including honors from the 2022 Forbes Business Council, the 2022 Best of Mississippi People’s Choice Award, and the 2021 Who’s Who of Mississippi Women. She is certified in entrepreneurship by both the Transformation Academy and Harvard Business School. In 2024, Makeba was honored with the prestigious SOAR Award, following her recognition as the 2023 Crown Award recipient. She also serves as Vice President on the Board of the American Red Cross, where she actively supports its mission. In 2025, she was named a Goldman Sachs 10KSB Alumni (Mississippi) and recognized as a Woman of Empowerment by the Professional Organization of Women of Excellence Recognized.

Makeba’s entrepreneurial drive was inspired by her grandfather’s success as a poultry contractor for Tyson Foods. Her journey began in 2011 with the founding of her first home care service—an endeavor rooted in faith, perseverance, and the unwavering support of her husband, Dr. Marcus A. Chanay.

Guided by her belief that “You don’t have to wait for someone to do something for you. You can start right where you are with what you have. If God says yes, then doors will open. All you need is one yes.”—Makeba continues to expand her influence through public speaking and aims to launch a publishing arm to further her HER Philosophy movement.
