Career Development Pathway

Course Description:  CHSC Career Development Pathway Course (Component 1)

 

This course is designed to prepare students for successful entry and advancement in the allied health field by developing essential professional, interpersonal, and career readiness skills. Students will explore career pathways within the healthcare industry, practice effective communication in clinical and administrative settings, and learn strategies for professional growth and lifelong learning.

 

Emphasis is placed on resume and cover letter preparation, interviewing techniques, job search strategies, workplace professionalism, and understanding employer expectations. Students will also learn the importance of ethics, teamwork, cultural competence, and emotional intelligence in healthcare environments.

 

By the end of the course, students will have developed a professional portfolio and a personalized career plan that supports their transition from training to employment.

 

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify career opportunities and advancement pathways within allied health professions.

  • Demonstrate professional communication skills appropriate for healthcare settings.

  • Develop an effective resume, cover letter, and job search strategy.

  • Understand and apply principles of teamwork, leadership, and conflict resolution.

 

Course Format:

Lalth problems and partners with groups to improve health outcomes in the State of Mississippi and beyond.  The Institute also works with communities to design primary prevention strategies, focus on health system transformation.
